Only problem is that an amendment requiring all voter application forms be in English was tacked onto it as well. In my opinion this amendment is racist and exclusionary. It needs to be taken out. Rep. Deborah Ross also dislikes the amendment and as far as I know plans to ask the House to not concur with the Senate version of the bill. Young Democrats, you need to contact your House members and tell them not to concur with the Senate verion of the bill. We need this bill to go to a joint session. There we can work it out. This bill actually protects against voter fraud. 1) A person must provide proof of residency and swear that he or she is a US citizen and resides at the address given. Lying is a felony crime. 2) The ballot is a retrievable ballot, so if a problem is found with the registration, it can be pulled and not counted in the official canvass. 3) MOST IMPORTANTLY everyone who registers to vote through this bill will be registering at an Early Voting Site and will be register by a PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED ELECTION’S OFFICIAL. Instead of having people come up to off the streets to register new voters a professional does it. Isn’t that safer?
